Laura Harjo

Laura Harjo is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and teaches geography and GIS at the University of Southern California. She is also a research fellow for the Advancement Project—a civil rights law, policy and communications "action tank." Harjo has worked with her tribe and several others in conducting surveys and community development projects, has been the director of a tribal GIS center, and has coordinated land management activities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geography, a graduate certificate in GIS, and a PhD in geography from the University of Southern California.
